Am I missing something here? ;^)
No. It's just that the jalaba is so white and clean. I suspect that richer Omani men simply wear new ones when they get dirty; or there is a whole brigade of washer people to wash the darn things and keeep them neatly ironned. I suspect it is something Arab and untipical of Europeans that status is defined not so much by rich clothing, as by how much it costs to maintain quite simple cloth. The fabulous thing about the jalaba is that it is cool in warm weather and warm in cool. It is also quite elegant and very comfortable. I do wish I dared wear it on the train or to go to the mall.
see, this is the sort of thing I do that is my current post. I drop stuff down me. I do hope you get it out of such a lovely looking robe though.
They do look so comfortable. And come to think of it, I've never seen one with a ketchup stain down the front.
