Home sick yesterday and today. This cold is getting me down physically. Want to return to work tonorrow and in any case have no more paid sick days. D's birthday dinner at winterlicious on Friday night. Hope I am well enough to enjoy it. Ought to go out to get metropass. W still asleep so I cannot vacuum up cat litter spilt Monday night. Fascinating details of daily life!
Cold got worse. Cistoscopy painful but fascinating as I looked at my own bladder and the impressively tiny passage to my kidneys. Could not really see the protruding prostate, otherwise everything properly in its place and not infected. Afterwards wanted to pee constantly and very painful when i did. But this decreased. Glad to have the day off and watched arrested development. Good day. Today nice enough at work although I fell asleep and woke just before Shawn Y came in with two visitors taking notes. Took A d to hospital where he kept getting up and pacing very slowly. I fell asleep and woke to find him gone. Panicked, I looked for him outside and at the nurses station. Finally he turned up. He had been in the washroom.
Cathy and I went to see Private Lives at the Alum. Ran into old friends, Eileen and John C from Blood Suit days. Talked about the director, Yvette. Feel guilty that I abandoned her when I was last manic and thought I wanted to develop a comic persona. Of course I still do in a way. This picture from the Globe and Mail on tar sands. Even more impressive picture in the paper itself.
I like this guy a lot. I've come across him a couple of times when troling throught the blogs and I don't read everything he writes, but he has an easy style and makes me feel i know him. That's good blog writing.
Saturday night I was woken by tension and pain across my upper body below the chest. I thought I was having a heart attack and prepared myself for death just in case. It passed off and I slept again.
Yesterday Cathy was in waves of pain and in the evening the telephone health service recommended that I get her to hospital. Matthew had borrowed the car so we had to go by ambulance. Cathy was screaming and crying out with pain.
Eventually at TGH she was given morphine and they found that she was passing kidney stones. We came home at three AM. I had called in an Ill dependant day.
We only slept till eight as we were called to return to the hospital for a CT scan. They confirmed two stones and we returned at one. I went immediately to get my INR but the line up was horrendous and I returned via Starbucks. They know my drink now and Hungry as I was, (I had not eaten since a subway at the hospital the night before), The fruit and grain bar and the drink were delicious.
