Starbucks

Starbucks used to have an online suggestion box, but those sites no longer load. Perhaps they closed them down because they cost too much. So I will post my complaint here.

For the last two months or so, Starbucks have been giving out a new design of cup. I always get a Venti and the new softer rim is particularly annoying in this size. The plastic caps, (which have always been way superior to any other in Canada), don't fit properly and slip off too easily. They used to clip on conveniently. Now I have to force them on and they mush in the rim. They frequently come off, while I am drinking from the cup, or carrying it.

Is it the same in the United States?

No, not that I noticed. Maybe it's just a regional thing.

Cutting costs, no doubt, so they can give their executives bigger bonuses this year, while customers yell at the underpaid "barristas".

Oh, I've never been into Starbucks and I probably never will -- and forgive me for my holier-than-thou attitude, but a true conservationist would take his/her ceramic own mug into Starbucks and tell them to "fill 'er up".   But of course that just wouldn't be cool, and I'm sure Starbucks has a rule against such an ecologically friendly approach. Screw 'em...

Dear Donald,
Actually Starbucks give you a discount for using your own cup. They were also the first big chain here to buy "Fair trade" coffee. They also publish great CD's. Not a bad place at all.

Love Starbucks, but haven't been in a while. I haven't noticed the cup thing.

Thanks Marc for the information -- I'm always jumping to conclusions... Excellent on using Fair Trade coffee, and I'll have to find out about their CD's.

But I've heard that ordering at Starbucks is kind of complicated -- I probably wouldn't know the right terminology if I just wanted a cup of plain black de-caf... But 'fer sure, I'd take my "Lawrence Welk" mug -- used to be my mother's that she got for sending in a donation to PBS...

there are not any Starbucks close o me, or near the places I frequent. however, we are lousy with Caribou coffee shops. Or, as me and my fellow local bloggers call it - The 'Bou. I have not noticed a change in their paper cup material wise. However I do think they have made their paper cups smaller. I shall investigate in the morning.
