Our upstairsdesk top DEll has been acting up for some time.

From not waving but drowning:

For others who might have the same problem this is what I did.

Open "Tools".
Internet options
General
Delete temporary files

Or, from

I had a similar problem last week. I took the problem to the following site:

I have to empty my temporary file daily. It makes a huge difference.

You know, Marc, about two years ago I switched from Windows over to a Mac and believe me, it's been smooth sailing ever since... I'm an old dog, so it took me a while to catch on to the new way of doing things just slightly different, but the Mac is SO logical... This machine (MacPro running v10.4) almost never crashes and I think the biggest benefit is not having to run Anti-Virus stuff... Really, still not too many viruses out there directed towards Macs...

Anyway, I'm glad you found how to empty those Temporary Internet Files -- yep, they just keep accumulating until your machine just bogs down... But I'm writing to tell you that your machine has ANOTHER set of temporary files -- and these must occasionally be cleared also... They're in a folder named "Temp" -- to get to them

I think it's location is: Windows | Utilities (or something like that) | Temp

But these Temp files accumulate all sorts of stuff and definitely need occasiohnal clearing... One day I got a message on my screen saying my hard-drive was full, but I knew it couldn't be after adding everything up -- but the problem was that I need to clear my Temp files -- after I did that I had an enormous amount of usable space on my hard-drive...

My ISP (Comcast) has a little plug-in that will clear Temp files, as some people are reluctant to delete files from their Windows folder manually...

Anyway, just keep it in mind for when it looks like you're running low on hard-drive space, and congratulations again on deleting those Temporary Internet Files...

And next time you're shopping for a computer keep Apple in mind -- oh I know they cost more and you're probably going to have to replace your software, but believe me, it's worth it...

Bill Gates is a great guy, but he makes toys... Do yourself a favor and get a Mac next time...

Gee, thanks. Almost everything I've learned about computers, I've learned from other users.
