Although this mountain is only about twenty thousand feet above sea level, Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador actually sticks out one and a half miles further into space than Mount Everest. The earth bulges out at the Equator, as I do. Happy 4th to all my American friends.

Actually, (I could be wrong) but I think it was back in the very early '60's that they discovered the slight pear-shaped bulge -- at least that's when I first heard of it...
