We returned to our Hotel, The Alexandria, which was way smaller than we had imagined, but, after a small fuss, we got the queen sized bed we had payed for right above the front door. It was cold. We saw this charming car-less street (above) and inquired about a hotel there. Ther rates were low, but it looked as if cockroaches would be crawling up the main staircase and the patronne had an unfortunate blue side to her puffy face.

We slept well and left for the station soon after eight. Our train was delayed and rerouted via Culoz further East, almost in Switzerland in fact. We arrived in Moutier over an hour late. Our old friends Carol and Alice met us at the station and we trudged through snow to The Hotel Welcome up the street from the station.
