Our 2009 world. I know it's a mess right now, but somehow there is more hope around just now. Do we fall back on hope when all else is failing? I know that happens, but this new year is like a bud turning into a flower for me. And I guess I'm inspired by many others. Suddenly people on the train are darned friendly. I like to thank the streetcar drivers, and usually they stay mute. Maybe some of them are getting used to me, but just recently they almost all answer. "Have a good night", "Have a good week end". Well I think I will.

We were discussing this very thing tonight. Things look pretty darn bleak, but somehow we feel very hopeful and optimistic.

Phew! Thank G-d another year is over and we survived and thank G-d we get to see a new one laid out before us. I think most of us harbour some sense of optimism that things will be a little better in the year ahead no matter what the past year held in store for us. Last year, for example, I found a wonderful online resource in the "BBC iPlayer". All the best of BBC Radio available through your computer and you don't even need high speed; for the most part it streams beautifully with a dial-up connection, too. My current favourite of all the stations is BBC Radio 4, a "talk" channel. And my current favourite show is the "Now Show" with a new episode broadcast every Friday night. The "BBC iPlayer", check it out and then "spend it forward" if you agree more of your readers need some enlightening talk and/or comedy in the year ahead. The iPlayer home page can be found at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/
[Note that the TV content is NOT available outside of the UK but all the radio is.] The easiest way to sample some of the hundreds of shows is by clicking the "A-Z" button on the homepage tool bar. The "Now Show" homepage can be found at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/comedy/nowshow.shtml
Good listening, and a good year ahead to my favourite blogger.
