Waning crescent 1% full tonight. Clouds and rain have come in spoiling three days of crisp, clear light. I had a Chauncy Gardner like cab driver recently. I said that it had been raining enough that maybe we would see some wild flowers early as http://aphotoaday.blogspot.com/ reported from San Francisco. "Oh no, very bad", said my driver, "Everything must come in slowly, slowly. The trees must produce their flowers all in good time to produce good fruit for good seeds that will continue to make more trees."

I bet you wouldn't see this moon if you were sleeping soundly. There are advantages to insomnia

Yes, I think your "driver" is very wise about plants needing to take their time to produce good seeds and stock...

Last year was a bumper-crop for wildflowers around here on the west coast, and this year it seems like there is even more of an abundance... We had a weird rain pattern this year -- my theory is that maybe next year won't be so abundant -- and the wildflowers already know what is ahead...

We have forest floors full of deep scarlet Indian Paintbrush and two varities of Douglass Iris -- all painting their own little Immogen Cunningham pieces of art... It is all rather beautiful, as I was muttering to myself yesterday...

Insomnia is now past. Now I have my old trouble of actually waking up when the alarm goes off.

Aphotaday; waxing quite poetic there.... I like it as much as your pictues, which often present themselves to me as paintngs do.
