This ignominy took place in a major world city only seventy six years ago yesterday. I guess that as similar things happen today, we don't notice them enough. Remember, the men who forced him down the street wanted this picture to be taken and publicised. Today our 'spin doctors' are a great deal more subtle.

The sign says that he is lawyer and a Jew. His persecutors were not nice people, but they were proud of themselves. I guess they needed someone onto whom to project their own dark sides. What repels me, is that this was on March tenth, nineteen rhirty three. Had I observed this then, would I have left my country? Would I have realised that it was an an indication of something that would become much, much worse? would I simply have stood aside, watched and done nothing?

Those are good questions to ask. In an age of peace, we can't seem to imagine how it would be like if we place ourselves during those hard times of history. I think I'll probably chicken out...
