L.O.V.E. the Mozart Clarinet Concerto! I'd like to hear this recording.
The second movement always takes me outside in the cool springtime. It's some of the most beautiful music ever, don't you think?
I also love this particular concerto although (maybe I should whisper this) I'm not that much of a Mozart fan. I don't know this particular recording though.
I used to like Bach best. I felt that Mozart, my mother's favourite, was not serious, was having too much fun, was possibly taking the mickey out of us. The use of his music in a few films, including Amadeus, brought me round to him. I still think of him as pop music, though. Just the very best pop music.
Bach??? Too much coffee...
Your opinion of Mozart is tragically misinformed. Mozart was extremely serious, especially when it came to his music. First of all, you have to understand Austrians to understand Mozart. Mozart was VERY Austrian. You also have to understand that much of what we know of him is colored through his more serious GERMAN father, Leopold, who could be a very stern taskmaster, and not always understanding of his more playful, (and probably Attention Deficit Disorder), son.
Listen to some of his chamber works--string quartets, piano quintets, nocturnes and Lieder, and you won't think of his music as pop music anymore.
