An intellectual Buddhist hippy, (there were lots of those around in the early seventies), told me when I first arrived from Europe that the native people of North America respected certain "power places". Nelson, British Columbia was such a place, he said. Surely Yosemite must have been one too?

Yes, Yosemite, The Grand Canyon, The Tetons, Niagara Falls, The Mississipi, The Columbia, the Great Lakes......

Yosemite is certainly a power place as far as I'm concerned. I grew up in the valley just below Yosemite and we would spend every weekend there in the summer time. Magical place.

Lovely painting of Yosemite Falls.

The two times we've visited the West Coast we've managed to not actually do the detour we'd planned to and get to the park. Next time perhaps.

Love that phrase "intellectual buddhist hippy"...
And a whole lot of them are still around -- they're still thick-as-flies here in Marin County, California...

Ah yes Yosemite -- I haven't been there in years...   I must get back there soon to recharge my batteries...
