I found this photograph somewhere some time ago. That is a wonderful way to mask ugly scaffolding, although I was looking at some very high scaffolding here in Toronto the other day and I thought that golden scaffolding rods on the outside of a new building would make a very attractive permanent cladding.

(Edited in later). two weeks later I saw that here in Toronto, the outside of the Bay store downtown is being worked on and the scaffolding is covered with a huge plastic tarp depicting the building before they started work on it. Like the one in Venice it must be about six stories high and wider than its height.

For example:

Or how about this Danish concert hall, which I found in April, 2012?

Home at last. After a picnic on the Moors with some friends, we motored on homeward through the disgustingly dirty villages. The farmers and village folk in this part of Yorkshire are particularly scruffy and unkempt. Mr Porter was waiting with another scrumptious tea. We sat on the veranda and talked through the sunset of the Empire and the King. Early to bed for tomorrow we have the shoot in honour of the Marquis of Twitdale.

I picked up this meme of your ten favourite movie characters from willow here. She got the meme from someone else who got it from someone else and thus I followed it back until I was satiated by people's choices. These are the first I thought of.

I guess that in Northern climates all over the world we are thrilled to notice that spring has really arrived. I was in my T shirt on Queen Street just now and the temperature is due to rise to twenty tomorrow. The two youngest are celebrating their birthdays by throwing a party in our house tonight and we are giving them our absence by going to Hamilton for the night. The plan is to be in The Royal Botanical Gardens tomorrow morning. By the afternoon we will have rain and maybe even a tornado. My new pleasure is watching the world weather reports on BBC World. Its 30 in Mumbai and very humid.

For almost a year I have so enjoyed the bare walls of our new house. We chose paint colours carefully and I am well satisfied with the results. Now Cathy has asked me to buy the dreaded picture hooks. There is not a picture we own that does not bore me to tears even if I spent much money on them in the past when I had fallen in love with them. Now I feel that they are mere emblems of our supposed good taste, to be flaunted before our visitors. "And see what we have over here and here and here". Much better we should suspend ten mirrors, but we won't hang one, I suspect. This is what our walls will look like next.

Shudders.

All last week we were getting warnings that the Kapersky anti virus protection was running out on this notebook. Kim had installed it for me, insisting that it was the best in the world. Well, we tried to renew it using Matthew's credit card, but this was not accepted so yesterday I switched the operating system to Google Chrome. Things do seem to jump forward a little faster although all my old bookmarks have disappeared in favor, it seems, of all of David's favorites. I guess the continuing cold has made me a bit tense, hence a slight unpleasantness on waking at six.

Well I've never gotten an award before and I've had 48 hours to think about it. Thank you Lakeviewer, thank you very much. I will now copy your text and nominate 13,(my grand father's favourite number), other people whom I have come to know on the net. They have all been excellent correspondents.
