I fall apart when the computer goes down for a few hours, let alone is lost forever. But addiction can't be good for us all. I would suggest developing a nice, intellectual hobby :)
Read Josephine Tey's novel, The Daughter of Time. The hero was in hospital, bored witless. So he researched reference books, to solve an important historical mystery (did King Richard III murder his nephews, the Princes in the Tower).
I loved the novel, but I was thinking more of a new and fascinating hobby - historical sleuthing.
