Without a computer what would I do ? I turn it on as soon as I get up, I check Facebook and play ten Lexulous games sometimes several times a day each, I keep this blog as well as a private blog of daily events, I read email and newspaper articles and I am a happy fan of Wikipedia. I am retired so I have plenty of spare time. We watch Jeopardy every night, but I have become disenchanted with television and spend most of my time under my laptop. I read through books slowly, usually on my Kindle.

I fall apart when the computer goes down for a few hours, let alone is lost forever. But addiction can't be good for us all. I would suggest developing a nice, intellectual hobby :)

Read Josephine Tey's novel, The Daughter of Time. The hero was in hospital, bored witless. So he researched reference books, to solve an important historical mystery (did King Richard III murder his nephews, the Princes in the Tower).

I loved the novel, but I was thinking more of a new and fascinating hobby - historical sleuthing.
